Romaine or Cos Lettuce Salad Greens
Lettuce and Salad Greens are easy to grow and a wonderful addition to any garden. Each variety offered has a unique appearance and subtle flavor. Most notable is that some varieties produce tight heads while others are loose leaf or non-heading. Preferring cool weather, lettuce is relatively undemanding. It is most delicious when grown fast and kept moist. Grown in this manner, lettuce will produce sweet tasting, tender leaves. Partial shade enhances the flavor and texture of the leaves and heads. Lettuce tolerates a light frost and may be easily grown in pots and containers.

Packet size is at least 2 grams, approximately 1,400 seeds. Plant every 2-4 weeks for a continuous supply of delicious fresh lettuce and salad greens.Lettuce seeds germinate well for an extended period of time. When stored in optimum conditions, lettuce seeds can be planted for up to four years.

Arugula or Rocket
This is an absolutely fantastic green that is spicy and delicious. It is very easy to grow from seed or started indoors before the last frost. It prefers cool weather and can get rather bitter in the Tucson summers. For delicious greens, plant succession starters and keep them trimmed. 30 days.

Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce
This loose leaf variety produces tender, delicate light green leaves. It is an excellent continuous cutting lettuce that grows rapidly and is quite dependable. It is heat and drought resistant while retaining a superior flavor and texture. 44 days.

This Bibb lettuce variety produces compact, very loose and open heads. The thick leaves are light green, very crisp and juicy. Heat resistant and slow to bolt, Buttercrunch is somewhat drought tolerant. 66 days.

Cimmaron Romaine Lettuce
This variety produces beautiful red tinged leaves. The leaves can vary from dark red to a tint of red depending on weather and growing conditions. The leaves are crisp and sweet and grow in an upright head as the more traditional green variety.

Great Lakes 659 Lettuce
First introduced in 1904, this variety produces large mild flavored heads. This is an excellent fall crop resistant to tip burn. The leaves are pale green and lightly ruffled. This variety also does well in warm weather and succeeds under adverse growing conditions. This is the most versatile Great Lakes variety that we have found. 75 days.

This beautiful, frilly leafed green is a wonderful addition to your salads. This mustard is used when the leaves are small in salads and in braising mixes. Grow it quickly for the best tasting greens. Slow to bolt and will grow well throughout the hot summers.

Parris Island Romaine Lettuce
This wonderful heirloom romaine lettuce is a favorite for home gardeners. Leaves are bright green, forming a tall upright, open head about 10 inches tall. The interior is a light green color. The leaves are sweet and crispy. This is a reliable long standing lettuce. It is also tolerant to downy mildew. 70 days.
