Kale is one of the most beautiful vegetables for fall planting. A non-heading cabbage relative, this vegetable is extremely hardy and tolerant of freezing temperatures. Plants are low growing and the leaves have a flavor similar to cabbage.

Dwarf Blue Curled Kale

This variety produces compact plants about a foot tall. The blue-green curly leaves are delicious steamed or in salads. This is an excellent winter crop that withstands freezing temperatures. The flavor and texture are improved after a light frost. This is a slow bolting Scotch type of kale. 60 days.

Red Russian Kale

This is a rare variety with purple veins and red frilly leaves with curled margins that are reminiscent of oak leaves. This very attractive plant has excellent flavor. This variety dates back to the 1800’s when it is said to have been introduced to Canada by Russian traders. 60 days.
