Cabbage is a versatile vegetable that may be used raw or cooked. All the varieties are high in nutritive value. It is one of the most familiar members of the Brassica family that includes broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and kale. Cabbage is extremely hardy and frost resistant. It should be planted as a fall crop in warm climates.

Each cabbage seed packet contains 2 grams of seed - about 225 seeds. Cabbage seeds may be saved for up to three years.

Copenhagen Market Cabbage
The medium green plants are compact with short stems and hard, round heads weighing 3 to 4 pounds. This is an early variety that produces in a relatively short period. The harvested cabbage is a good keeper. It is well suited to smaller gardens due to its compact size and early yields. Introduced in 1909 by H. Hartman and Company. 68 days.

Danish Ballhead Cabbage
This very dependable variety produces medium size, flat globe shaped cabbage. Each cabbage weighs about 5-6 pounds with dark outer leaves and light green interior. This old time favorite is a great keeper, whether in the garden or in storage. 100 days.

Early Jersey Wakefield Cabbage
The cabbage heads are conical and weigh about three pounds. This variety is known for its excellent and mild flavor. It is ideal for small gardens; the compact plants allow for close planting. This variety can over-winter and resists splitting. 65 days.

Red Acre Cabbage
This early cabbage produces deep red-purple compact plants. The heads are round, 6-7 inches in diameter and weigh approximately 3 pounds. It is one of the earliest producing open pollinated red cabbages available. It is an excellent space saving, compact and insect resistant variety. 75 days.
