Pole beans take up less garden space than bush beans. Since their growth is vertical they require a means of support. The vigorous vines can be trellised or staked so that the plant grows up and around the central pole. The vines can grow 5-8 feet tall. Asparagus yard long beans need strong support and can grow more than 12 feet long.
