Planting Information
This heirloom Basil has the flavor and citrus scent of lemons. The leaves imparts a distinctive lemon flavor and aroma to vegetable dishes, vinegar and salads. It is very popular in Thai cuisine and can add a refreshing citrus note to traditional pesto and other sauces. The plant is very hardy; growing to about two feet tall and very bushy. As with all basil varieties, it loves the heat. Keep the flowers trimmed and you'll have a large supply of fresh basil all summer long.
Packet size: 1 gram (approximately 600 seeds)
Basil
(Annual) - This herb is particularly sensitive to frost. When the danger of frost is past, sow in rows not more than a 1/4" deep. If you started it indoors, transplant only when overnight frost danger is over. Rows should be 12" apart. Lemon basil does well in weed-free and well aerated soil. To keep the plant producing delicious greens, remove the flower heads as they begin to form. Top the plants for strong side foliage production. Tucson Planting Information: Plant in March for excellent production of beautiful, bushy lemon basil plants. Basil does well in summer only.
