Oak Leaf Lettuce American Flag Leeks
This lettuce variety forms a close center with loose outer leaves. Medium sized oak leaf shaped greens are sweet and tender. This variety does not get bitter in hot weather. 40 days. This most popular variety of leek grows quickly and produces well blanched 9 to 12 inch stalks with white bulbs. These hardy leeks are known for their outstanding quality and flavor. This variety is also known as Broad London. 85 days.

Danvers Half long carrots Honeydew Melon-Green Fleshed
These delicious carrots have a smooth skin with orange-red roots and pointed tips. This variety differs from both the Chantenay and Nantes type carrots in several ways. It does grow well in poor soil and shallow gardens where caliche (cement-like subsoil) is a problem. These carrots are about 6 inches long and 2 inches thick at the shoulder.  A hardy variety, these carrots are not prone to splitting or cracking. This heirloom variety originated in 1871. 75 days. This variety is a smooth globe shaped melon with a hard rind and no netting. The rind is white and changes to a golden tinge when ripe. The flesh is a light emerald green color and the flavor is outstanding. It is possibly one of the sweetest melons available. Average weight for the ripe juicy melons is about 6 pounds. 112 days.

Red Russian Kale Little Finger Carrots
This is a rare variety with purple veins and red frilly leaves with curled margins that are reminiscent of oak leaves. This very attractive plant has excellent flavor. This variety dates back to the 1800ís when it is said to have been introduced to Canada by Russian traders. 60 days. Originated in France, these little gourmet carrots develop color quickly. Pull when the root is about three inches long. These sweet, deep orange colored carrots can be grown in small spaces for high yields. Consider container gardening for these delicious carrots. Unlike commercial "baby" carrots that are simply cut from larger carrots, these real baby heirloom carrots are grown to be harvested when very small. 50 days.
