With that said, our seeds are a favorite for many gardeners and we hope to be a part of your gardening experience, whether you are a master gardener or new to the joy of growing your own food.

Danvers Half long carrots Calabrese Broccoli (Green Sprouting)
These delicious carrots have a smooth skin with orange-red roots and pointed tips. This variety differs from both the Chantenay and Nantes type carrots in several ways. It does grow well in poor soil and shallow gardens where caliche (cement-like subsoil) is a problem. These carrots are about 6 inches long and 2 inches thick at the shoulder.  A hardy variety, these carrots are not prone to splitting or cracking. This heirloom variety originated in 1871. 75 days. Each plant grows about 24 inches tall and produces a blue-green central head followed by abundant side shoots. It is ideal for spring and fall plantings. The broccoli is buttery tasting and exceedingly tender. This variety is considered a true delicacy. 75 days.

Black Spanish Radish Purple Hull Pinkeye Cowpeas
These radishes have a black skin with a creamy white interior. These unusual round radishes can grow quite large but are best when harvested when the diameter is about 2-3 inches. The interior is solid and crisp. The flavor is distinctive and pungent. Hardy compact, bush type plants produce white peas with pink or purple eyes. This cowpea produces well in poor soil and has excellent disease resistance. It needs to be planted after all danger of frost has past and it loves the heat. 68 days for dry, 50 days for snap.

Fresh Ruby Red Beets from a Tucson Garden White Icicle Radish
This heirloom variety produces bright red round beets with maroon tinged leaves. The beets are smooth and very sweet. This early variety produces well in poor soils and the beets can be crowded. Plant close together and thin when the beet is about an inch or two in diameter.  52 days. This beautiful white radish produces roots up to 5 inches long. The young roots are sweet and tender and the flavor becomes stronger as they age. This variety holds its quality well even in hot weather. A circle of white radishes may be planted around the base of young squash plants to deter the squash vine borer.
