Parsnips are related to carrots and resemble them to some degree. This root vegetable is a fall or winter crop that produces well in almost any climate. It requires a long growing season but can be stored easily in the ground in cold climates. The root has a nutty sweet flavor that is enhanced by frost. Each packet contains one half gram of seed or about 200 seeds. Seeds do not store well, use them in a season or two for best germination.
